At first, I was scared that Canon digital cameras as well as any digital camera at all really, would trivialize the art of photography. My friends have called me a photo snob for harboring opinions like that. I wouldn't go quite as far as to admit to being one of those, but I do love the artistic side of taking photos. And in my own picture taking, I do try my best to snap the best shots that I can. I really want to avoid being unsuccessful at that. I have seen so many would-be photographers fail to move their audiences. I dread falling into that group.

The artistic side of taking pictures, whether you use an old school type of camera or one of the new Canon digital cameras is dependent upon stirring up something deep inside the viewer. You want to do more than just use Canon digital cameras to capture something pretty or memorable. You want to touch your audience on a level that they weren't even expecting. At least, that's the way that I see things.
Despite my initial reluctance, I did eventually attempt to accomplish this effect with Canon digital cameras by the way. And from what I have experienced, you can achieve your photo-taking goals just as well with them as with the older sort of camera that I was used to. The pictures are just as crisp, clear, and full of life.
Maybe that was the main thing that I was worried about using Canon digital cameras, that, that certain something, that extra bit of life would not be there. I felt like the soul of the photograph lived inside the film somehow. I know, a little bit extreme, but it seemed right to me.
I have always had somewhat extreme views as far as photography is concerned. I have always respected the achivements of the masters of the craft. Some of whom are recognized, and others who I just have a personal attachment to, whether anyone else agrees with me or not. The ones who can insert themselves seemlessly into ordinary and extraordinary events in everyday life and be that fly on the wall, so to speak. Relate to their surroundings, but not become part of them. And show me what is happening in a way that maybe I wouldn't even pick up on if I were there personally. That's the stuff that true beauty is made of. The stuff that legends in the field live to accomplish.
I aspire to become one of those legends. I want to touch people in the same way that i have been touched. I will freely admit to the fact that I am not quite there yet. But it's a journey, not a destination. And these days, I don't mind experimenting in taking it with Canon digital cameras as valued tools of the trade.
